Conrad Buecher, a resident of Muscatine for more than thirty years, passed away at his home, 939 Roscoe avenue, at 3 o’clock this morning. His death was caused by dropsy, and terminated an illness of several months. He had been bedfast since last September.
Mr. Buechner was born in Niedermoellrich, Hessen Cassel, Germany February 9th, 1857. His parent died when he was a baby. In 1885 he came to America, and settled in Muscatine, making his home here continuously since. On October 5th, 1887, he married Miss Magdalena Heppe, and to this union five children were born, two, a son and a daughter preceding the father in death.
Mr. Buechner was an active worker in the Cedar street Methodist church. He served as local preacher and as Sunday school superintendent for a number of years, and at the time of his death was president of the Men’s Sunday school class and an assistant teacher. His wife, two daughters Nellie and Minnie and one son Edwin survive.
Funeral services will be conducted from the home Monday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock, and from the Cedar street Methodist church at 2 o’clock. The Rev. Emil Goetz will officiate at both services. Burial will be made in Greenwood cemetery.
