Funeral services for Lee Hogue Forsyth, 70, were held Dec. 4 at West Liberty. Mr. Forsyth, retired West Liberty businessman, died Dec. 1 in a Muscatine hospital following a 2-year illness.
Born in Cedar county near West Branch, July 29, 1892, he was married to Nell E. Melick, Feb. 22, 1917, in West Liberty.
The couple farmed southeast of West Liberty, then moved to town in 1927 when he started the Forsyth Transfer, which he operated until 1946. He entered the automobile business in 1948 and retired in 1954.
He was a pioneer operator in the transportation business and helped organize the Iowa Motor Truck association, serving as its president for 7 years.
He was a member of the Masons, Zarepath Consistory and Kaaba Shrine, Davenport; member and past patron of OES, Atalissa; and the Rotary club.
He is survived by his wife and a number of nieces and nephews.
