29 November 1962 - The Tipton Conservative

Funeral services for Mrs. Vallie B. Long, 76, were held at the Griffith funeral home in Wilton Junction Nov. 25 with the Rev. Arthur J. Eveland officiating. Mrs. Emma Birkhofer was organist. Pallbearers were George F. McCoy, Fred Kaufman, Harold Rosenberg, Thomas J. Grings, Gail Sterner and Carl Lauer. Burial was in the Rochester cemetery.

Mrs. Long, a resident of Muscatine, died Nov. 22 in Muscatine General hospital following an extended illness.

The daughter of Jacob and Anna Olds Long, she was born Jan. 7, 1886 in Cedar county. She was married to Charles R. Long, Jan. 9, 1904.

She was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren church at Muscatine.

Survivors include 3 sons, Leonard, Turlock, Calif.; Charles, Marion; and LaMar G., Birmingham, Ala., and 4 daughters, Mrs. James (Mildred) Monta, Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Virgil (Genevieve) Arnold, Muscatine; Mrs. Robert (Edith) Adair, and Mrs. Ray (Louise) Merrill, both of California; 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Lawrence and 2 daughters, Mrs. Maude Hundley and Faye Long; 2 sisters and 2 brothers.
