Nichols – Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nichols , for Mr. Raymond K. Bekker, 63. Mr. Bekker died Thursday evening at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a brief illness.

Rev. William Sullivan will be reciting the rosary at 7:30 p.m. at the Snider funeral Home in West Liberty. Visitation will begin today at the funeral home. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, in Nichols.

Raymond Bekker was born July 26, 1912 in Nichols the son of Garrett B. and Theresa TeVoert Bekker. Is marriage to Alberta Weiskamp took place June 13, 1946 in Nichols.

He was a Veteran of Wolrld War II, and had retired from HON Industries two years ago.

Survivors include his wife; one son, James of Nichols; three daughters, Mrs. Theresa Connaway, Waco, Tex., Mrs. Dennis (Jean) Smith of West Liberty and Mrs. John (Virginia) Galfney of Cedar Falls; two brothers, Bernard and Edward both of Muscatine; three sisters, Mrs. George Stych, Muscatine, Mrs. William Slater, Wapello, Mrs. Robert Raasch of Cllinton; and three grandchildren.
