MUSCATINE — Alice Jean Logel, 94, of Muscatine, passed away on Monday, March 26, 2018, at Lutheran Living Senior Campus.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at the St. Mathias Church. Burial will take place in Muscatine Memorial Park. A time of food and fellowship will follow the committal service at Gannon Hall.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. on Monday, April 2, 2018, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home with a Rosary Prayer Service at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association for research. Online condolences: www.wittichfuneralhome.com .

Jean was born on November 19, 1923, in Iowa City, the daughter of Bill and Iva Schildberg Goetz. She was a graduate of Muscatine High School. She married Albert "Abbie" L. Logel on September 5, 1948, at the St. Mathias Church in Muscatine. Abbie preceded her in death on March 29, 2005.

She was a member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas – Joan of Arc Court 524, her graduating class committee and a long-time group of Women’s Night Out. Jean spent most of her life running a child care service in her home and has looked after upward of 60 of Muscatine’s now adults as children. Jean collected many things in her life but her egg collection from around the world is large and extensive.

Those left to honor her memory include a daughter, Valley Logel of Muscatine; a son, John Logel and wife, Joan, of Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada; and two granddaughters, Abigail and Grace Logel.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and three sons, Timothy Lee, Daniel Joseph and William Patrick Logel.
