WALKER FUNERAL HELD WEDNESDAY

West Liberty, Ia., Dec. 23. – The funeral of J. M. Walker was held yesterday afternoon at 1:30 from the Presbyterian church.
Joel Morris Walker was born May 27, 1850, in Belmont county, Ohio. On Sept. 8, 1875, he was united in marriage to Maria P. Gifford at the home in Cedar county.
Mr. Walker had been in good health until Saturday evening when he was taken ill, and even then his condition was not considered serious and death came suddenly Sunday night, at the age of 76 years. Mrs. Walker preceded him in death nine years ago, Nov. 5, 1917.
The earlier ancestors of the Walker family emigrated from Wales to Rador, Pa., in 1686. The succeeding generations moved to Chester Valley near Philadelphia. The grandfather of Joel M. Walker moved from York county, Pa., to the state of Ohio in 1838, and Mr. Walker was born in Belmont county. When a child of 4 years he moved with his parents to Cedar county.
Mr. Walker spent his active life on a farm until the year of 1909 when he retired and moved to West Liberty. In his early life he became a member of the Union Valley Community church and later transferred his membership to the Presbyterian church in West Liberty.
Surviving are his five daughters, Mrs. Inez Clare Branson, Mrs. Loretta McCann, Mrs. Vera Pinney, Mrs. Marzella Ridenour, Mrs. Wilma Walker, and one son, Glenn, and 22 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
