Fred Kallenberger, 75, of Moscow, was killed about 3 p.m. Nov. 7 when his pickup truck was hit by a Rock Island lines freight train at the east crossing in Atalissa.

Kallenberger had just picked up a load of coal at a lumber yard adjacent to the railroad tracks and was returning home when he was hit by the east-bound freight.

He was alone in the pickup truck. Officials said he apparently did not see the train.

Funeral services for Mr. Kallenberger were held Nov. 11 at Muscatine with the Rev. Caleb Larson officiating. Burial was in Memorial park cemetery at Muscatine.

Mr. Kallenberger, a farmer, was born in Louisa county Sept. 21, 1888, the son of C. F. and Kate Nevins Kallenberger. He married Hazel Edmondson Nov. 25, 1909, at Muscatine.

Surviving are his wife; 2 sons, Lloyd R. Kallenberger, Tipton, and Donald A. Kallenberger, Muscatine; 2 daughters, Mrs. Allen Gray, Muscatine, and Mrs. Harold Swick, Tipton; a brother, Paul Kallenberger, Quincy, Ill.; 2 sisters, Mrs. Walter Tanner and Mrs. Fred Aring, also of Quincy, 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Two brothers preceded him in death.
