Peter Daut, Jr., a well known resident of Muscatine county died shortly after 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon at his home in Lake township following a brief attack of influenza and pneumonia complications. He was 30 years of age.
He was stricken with influenza the day before Christmas. A few days before then, he had accompanied a carload of stock to Chicago. Before leaving he complained of a slight cold. Tuesday, his condition became serious and he was removed to his home in Lake township. The latter part of the week, pneumonia developed and death resulted Sunday afternoon. His wife and three of the children have also developed influenza but their conditions are improved today.
Peter Daut, Jr., was born March 25, 1888, in Cedar county on a farm near Wilton. January 4, 1912, he married Ella M. Bloomer to which union four children were born, all of whom survive. Shortly after, the couple moved to a farm in Lake township and has resided there since.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Lucille, Clara and Frances Daut; and one son Lauren Daut, all of Lake township. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Daut, Sr., of Cedar county, one sister, Mrs. Guy Leith of Wilton, and three brothers, Fred and Verne Daut, of Cedar county, and Elmer Daut of Davenport, also survive.
Definite funeral arrangements have not yet been made.
