Death Summons Local Attorney

Miss Louise Eversmeyer Dies at Hershey Hospital After Long Illness

Miss Louise Eversmeyer, a resident of Muscatine all her life and a practicing attorney here since 1898, died at Hershey hospital at 5:15 this morning following a long illness. Miss Eversmeyer had been in failing health for several years and for the past year and a half had been bedfast.

Miss Eversmeyer was born in Muscatine, April 20, 1859, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Eversmeyer. She attended the public and high schools here and Iowa Wesleyan college at Mt. Pleasant. Later she took a business course and then enrolled in the law school at the University of Iowa from which she was graduated in 1898.

Upon the completion of her schooling she entered business with her father, B. H. Eversmeyer, who conducted an insurance, real estate and loan office here. Later she became affiliated with her brother, F. W. Eversmeyer. She was active in her practice until about three years ago when failing health forced her to retire. She was a member of Electra chapter, Order of Eastern Star, and about 15 years ago she had served on the school board. She was also a member of the Muscatine County Bar association.

Surviving are one sister, Dr. A. M. E. Leffingwell of Los Angeles, Calif.; four brothers, John H. Eversmeyer, Los Angeles, Henry of Gardner, Wash, F. W. , and Dr. B. E. Eversmeyer, both of Muscatine. She made her home at 709 Mulberry avenue.

Funeral arrangements are in charge of the Meyers Funeral Home and will be announced later.

Obituary – Funeral services for Miss Louise Eversmeyer, local attorney who died Thursday morning will be conducted at the Meyers Funeral Home at 3 o’clock Saturday afternoon by the Rev. William Hainsworth, pastor of the First Congregational church. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
