Mrs. Salem Hunter, a lifelong resident of Muscatine, passed away at her home, 213 West Second street, at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Death terminated an illness of three weeks and was caused by a complication of diseases. She was born in Muscatine in May, 1880, and had attained the age of 40 years.
Mrs. Hunter is survived by her husband and seven children--Mrs. John Nabor, Mrs. Laurance Bell, Mrs. John Davis, all of this city, and Vale, Edna, Selma and Louis, at home. Three sisters, Mrs. William Fischer, Mrs. William Walker and Mrs. Will Pierce, and one brother J.W. Washburn, all of this city, also survive. Her mother, Mrs. Gilbert Washburn, passed away in August last year, while her father preceded her in death by several years.
Funeral services over the remains will be conducted from the home at 213 West Second street at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon. The Rev. Birdie Batchelor of the First Friends' church will officiate. Burial will be made in Greenwood cemetery.
