Mrs. Susie Moots, age 70, died at her home, 200 west Second street, at 10:13 p.m. Friday after an illness of five weeks. Death was caused by a stroke.
Mrs. Moots was born April 11, 1867 at Muscatine, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Bersch, and had resided here all her life. On Jan. 18, 1899 she was married at Muscatine to William Moots, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Moots was a member of St. Mary’s church.
Surviving are two children, Harry Moots of Muscatine and Miss Mildred Moots of Chicago, two sisters, Mrs. E. Caple of Beloit, Kas., and Mrs. Lucy Maher of Muscatine, one brother, Tony Bersch of Muscatine, and a granddaughter, Mrs. Dorothy Pierson Fredricksen of Clinton.
One daughter, Bessie Pierson, and a sister, Kate preceded her in death.
The body is at the Ralph J. Wittich Funeral home, where it will remain until Monday when rites will be held at 8 a.m. at St. Mary’s church. The Rev. N. J. Pfeiffer will officiate, and burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.
The rosary will be recited at the funeral home Sunday at 7:30 p.m.

Last rites for Mrs. Susie Moots, 70, who died at her home, 200 west Second street, Friday night, were held at 8:30 a.m. today from the Ralph J. Wittich funeral home, and at 9 o’clock at St. Mary’s church.
The Rev. N. J. Pieffer, pastor, officiated. Burial was made in Greenwood cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were H. Brown, Harold Stein, Arthur Dill, Joe Walhuhein, Frank Maher and William Schlunz.
