J. F. Doty of West Liberty, a hardware merchant, was found dead in his store Tuesday morning about seven o'clock with a bullet hole in his neck and a revolver lying by his side. The discovery was made by one of his clerks. Some uncertainty is expressed whether it is a case of murder or suicide, and this may never be decided.

Mr. Doty is survived by his wife and two daughters. His death is a great shock to the community where he was held in high esteem.
