C. E. Graebner, Former Alderman Here, Succumbs

C. Elmer Graebner, 66, former alderman from the second ward, died early Sunday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Betty Blunk, 538 Hayes street, Davenport. Death followed a short illness.
The son of John and Emma Graebner, he was born Feb. 13, 1884, in Muscatine and resided here until his retirement in 1949, when he moved to Davenport. He married Mae Neff in Muscatine on July 31, 1913.
Mr. Graebner served eight years on the city council, having been elected to office four successive times in March of 1933, 1935, 1937 and 1939. He was employed at the Northern Gravel company until retiring in May of 1949. He was a member of the Methodist church and Iowa lodge No. 2, A. F. and A. M.
Survivors include the daughter, Mrs. Betty Blunk of Davenport; one brother, C. Albert Graebner of Muscatine; and one grandchild, Betty Ann Blunk of Davenport. His parents, wife, one sister and one brother preceded him in death.
The body is at the Geo. M. Wittich Funeral home and services will be conducted there at 2 p. m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.
