MUSCATINE - Mark Anthony Thorndyke, 51, of Muscatine, passed away Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, at his home. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at Jesus Mission Church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. The Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services is caring for Mark’s arrangements and his family.

Mark Anthony Thorndyke was born Dec. 1, 1964, in Iowa City, the son of Robert Leonard and Julia Kay (Harris) Thorndyke. On March 3, 1994, Mark was united in marriage to Tamara Welsch in Rock Island. Mark enjoyed fishing, boating, four-wheeling and helping others in their time of need. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his family, especially the grandchildren.

Mark will be deeply missed by his wife, Tamara, of Muscatine; his children, Marissa Weeks, of Cedar Rapids and Cory (Shannon) Nelson, Cody Nelson and Clarissa Hoppe, all of Muscatine; six grandchildren, Sedric Lamb, Shane Blake, Jacob Herlein, Austin Herlein, Kaiden Herlein and Carter Nelson; a special uncle, Jake (Joan) Harris, of Muscatine; siblings, Steven Thorndyke and David Thorndyke, both of Florida, Bobby (Karen) Thorndyke, of Missouri and Maggie Thorndyke and Phillis (Mike) Phillips, both of Muscatine; father- and mother-in-law, Ralph and June Welsch; and many nieces and nephews.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, Julia and Tara and one brother, Samuel.
