LEE BERRY BURIED.

Victim of Shooting Accident is Much Mourned.

Sunday morning at 10 o’clock at the Adams school house took place the funeral of Lee O. Berry, who met such a tragic death while out hunting last Thursday. The beautiful morning brought people from all the surrounding country to sympathize with the stricken family.
Lee O. Berry was born at Adams, Ia., Nov. 27, 1881, and died March 28, 1901, aged 19 years, 4 months and one day. He was the son of William J. and Mary E. Berry, who with two brothers and three sisters mourn his death. One brother and one sister died in infancy.
Thursday, March 28, while hunting with Louie Mills, he was accidentally shot in the right hip by the gun in Mills’ hands, and died that evening.
He was a member of the North Star lodge, No. 352, M. R. A. and had an insurance of $1,000 in that order. The lodge attended the funeral in a body, as also did the school of which Lee was a member. The school house at Adams did not begin to hold the large number of people present at the funeral, which was conducted by Rev. H. C. Millice, of Nichols, using the text Eccles. 8:8 – “There is no man that hath power over the spirit, to retain the spirit; neither hath he power in the day of death.”
The school house was packed, but the most careful attention was paid throughout. Several beautiful floral offerings were made. By actual count there were 85 teams in the funeral procession and several others had preceded them to the Nichols cemetery.
The sympathy of the people is not only given heartily to the family of the deceased, but also to his young friend, Louie Mills and family, because of the fatal accident.
