PETERSON, Romona Harriet

Romona Harriet Peterson, 18, died at 5:30 a.m. today at University hospital, Iowa City following internal injuries suffered in an automobile accident May 20, on Highway 1, eight miles south of Iowa City.

She was born August 13, 1948, at Muscatine, the daughter of Leonard Charles Peterson Sr. and Helen Roberta Fisher Peterson. She had been a resident of Nichols the past nine years.

Romona would have been a senior at the Lone Tree High school next fall. She had attended the grade school in Nichols as well as the first, second, and third grades at Madison and Grant schools in Muscatine. She was a member of the Nichols Christian church.

Survivors include her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Peterson Sr. of Nichols; two brothers, Leonard Jr.., 14 and Steven, 12; three sisters, Mrs. Moris (Barbara) Martz, Route 5, Muscatine, Carol 20, and Cherry, 17; and the maternal grandfather, Clarence E. Fisher of Muscatine. Her paternal grandparents and maternal grandmother preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Nichols Christian church. Friends may begin calling at the Riley Funeral Home Tuesday morning where the body will remain until it is moved Wednesday noon to the Nichols Christian church for the 2 o'clock service. Interment will be at the Nichols cemetery.
