Burlington- Paul R. Hesser, 66, of Burlington, died Saturday night as a result of injuries suffered when he was struck by a car.

Mr. Hesser was born Aug. 29, 1896, at Nichos. He was married Sept. 6, 1919 at Cedar Rapids to Lola Hummel.

A veteran of World War I, Mr. Hesser was a member of the American Legion and the 40 & 8 at Burlington. He was a past commander of the Burlington Legion post, and past commander of the First District of the Legion. He had also served as district chairman for the Junior Legion baseball program. He was a member of the First Methodist church.

Mr. Hesser was a railway mail clerk supervisor, retiring in 1959 after 42 years.

He is survived by the widow. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Elliott-Lunning funeral home, Burlington. Interment will be made at the Nichols cemetery, with military rites.
