Heart Ailment Proves Fatal to Eli D. Atkins.
Eli Delbert Atkins, 78, a resident of Muscatine for the past 28 years, died at his home on Canon avenue at 5 p.m. Sunday about an hour after being stricken with a heart attack.
Mr. Atkins was born June 3, 1858 at Rochester, Ia. His first wife, Miss Lorenda Burr, whom he married at Rochester preceded him in death Jan 27, 1920. On April 12, 1924, he married Bertha Kellums, who survives.

Other survivors include eight sons, Perry, Raymond, Harry, Alfred, Roy and Clifford of Muscatine, Charles of Goodland, Minn., and Delbert, of Tipton; three daughters Ida Larue and Mrs. Harry Duffield, of Muscatine and Mrs. John Burhop of Tipton, one sister, Mrs Will Creps, of Rochester Ia.; 40 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

The body was removed today from the Meyers funeral home to the family home on Canon avenue to remain there until the time of the funeral, which will be conducted at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist church in Rochester, of which Mr. Atkins was a member. Burial will be in the Rochester cemetery.
