neral on Monday AfternoonConesville, Ia., July 29.—Special to News-Tribune: At the home of John Hankins, at 2:45 o’clock this morning, occurred the death of Alfred Stretch, one of the oldest residents of this locality, his demise being attributed to heart trouble.
Mr. Stretch had been in his usual health, and spent yesterday in fishing. Returning to the home of his brother-in-law, John Hankins, with whom he had visited for the past four weeks, he ate a hearty supper and later retired, feeling in good spirits. At the midnight hour Mr. Hankins heard him breathing heavily and went to rouse him, thinking that he was dreaming. Once at his side, however, he discovered that Mr. Stretch was dying, the man passing away a short time afterward. He was aged 72 years. The funeral will be held on Monday afternoon.
