VERA ETTER

Vera Bernice Etter, 72, 1610 Ohio St., died Sunday, Aug. 13, 1995 at Muscatine General Hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. The Rev. Floyd Benda of Kilpeck Friends Church will officiate. Pallbearers will be Bruce Etter, Lee Elder, Jeff Etter, Jeff Koehler, Troy Helsley, and Nick Weikert. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Wellons, Chris Koehler, Bob Liggitt and Bob Etter. Burial will be at the Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home where a memorial has been established.

Mrs. Etter was born June 6, 1923, in Muscatine a daughter of Guy and Birdie Cozad Gatton. She was a life resident of the area.

She married Harry A. Etter Sr. on Nov. 16, 1940 in Muscatine.

She attended Kilpeck Friends Church.

She enjoyed playing bingo and cross-stitching and loved to go shopping.

She was employed as a nurse's aide in the obstetrics department at Muscatine General Hospital for nine years.

Survivors include her husband, Harry Sr.; three sons, Warren Etter and his wife, Pat, Harry E. Etter, Jr. and his wife Shirley, Burce Etter and his wife, Christina, all of Muscatine; four daughters, Mrs. Jim (Mary) Shepherd of Andalusia, Ill., Mrs. Robert (Lenora) Liggett of Gladstone, Mo., Mrs. Jeff (Rita) Koehler of Muscatine, and a granddaughter who was raised by Vera, Mrs. Lee (Lisa) Elder of Letts; 23 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, her mother, Mrs. Elmer (Birdie) Burzell of Muscatine; one brother, Richard Cozad of Muscatine; and three sisters, Hilda Long and Violet Krueger, both of Muscatine, and Delores JOnes of East Moline, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her father, three brothers, and a granddaughter.
