NEWTON E. WOLFE, FORMER RESIDENT HERE, SUCCUMBS
Newton E. Wolfe, about 72, former resident of Muscatine, died at Davenport Friday night. His home was at 1630 1/2 West Third Street in Davenport.

Mr. Wolfe was the son of Elias and Hattie Wolfe and married May Pugh in January of 1907.

Surviving are his wife; a son, Darwin, Davenport; two brothers, Bert, Columbus Junction, and John, address not known here; three granddaughters and three great granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his father and one sister.

Funeral Services will be held at Davenport at 2 p.m. Monday.

NEWTON WOLFE
Funeral services will be held Monday at 3 p.m. in the Runge Chapel for Newton Elias Wolfe, 70 or 1630 1/2 W. 3rd St., Davenport, who died at 5:20 a.m. Saturday in Mercy hospital following a lingering illness. The Rev. Clinton B. Meininger, pastor of the First Christian Church will officiate. Bruial will be in Oakdale Cemetery.

Born Dec 7, 1884 in Rock Island, he moved to Muscatine with his parents and attended schools there. He married Charlotte May Pugh, Jan. 16, 1909, and was employed at the Davenport Post Office for 20 years. They moved to a farm near Charlotte, in Clinton County, and he retired in 1947, moving to Davenport.

Survivors include the wife; one son, Darwin E. Wolfe, Davenport; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and two brothers, Burtus, Columbus Junction, Ia.; and John, Norfolk, Neb.
