Henry E. ''Hans'' Carstens, 90, of Wilton, died on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, at his home.

Services will be held at Bentley Funeral Home in Wilton. The Revs. David Revelle and James Revelle will officiate. The organist will be Terry Gillum and vocalist Henry Bentley. Pallbearers will be Carolyn Moeller, Gary Faley, Julie Grubbs, James Revelle, Donna Schmidt, Thomas Revelle, David Revelle, Bobby Crane, Jennie Clausen, Nathan Carstens-Castillo and Jacob Fratzke. Honorary pallbearers will be Elton Farley, Devon Mullett, Don Blaesing, Vernon Russell, Loren Fryemuth, and Jim Blouse. Interment will take place at Oakdale Cemetery in Wilton.

Mr. Carstens was born on Feb. 3, 1910, to Julius and Edith Zantow Carstens in Scott County. He married Mary Frances Creech on March 24, 1928, in Davenport. She died on Dec. 27, 1956. He later married Janet M. Schneekloth on Aug. 31, 1957, in Davenport.

He owned the New Liberty Sale Barn until 1980. He currently operated Carstens Livestock in Wilton.

He was a member of the Christian Center Church in Davenport where he served as an usher. He was an honorary member of the Muscatine Cattlemen's Association. He loved to play cards, work with livestock, play Bingo and go to the boat.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Carstens of Wilton; four daughters, Edith Revelle of Davenport, Betty Slightom of Davenport, Candy Clausen of Pekin, Ill., Connie Fratzke and her husband, Daniel, of Wilton; one son Lanny Carstens and his wife Mary, of Tipton; three sisters, Louise Myer of Davenport, Elsie Willer of Quincy, Ill., Dorothy Sass of Davenport; a brother, Edward Carstens of Davenport; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren;

He was preceded in death by his first wife, four brothers, Fritz Carstens, Kermit Carstens, two in infancy and a sister, Alice Carstens.
