MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Marguerite Ellen Allman, 89, Muscatine, formerly of Des Moines, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, at Lutheran Homes.

Graveside services are at Resthaven Cemetery, West Des Moines. A memorial has been established at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home in Muscatine for Lutheran Homes.

She was born on Oct. 6, 1912, in Crawfordsville, the daughter of Howard Griffith and Bertha Kremer Griffith Votroubek. She married Walter L. Allman on Dec. 20, 1945, in St. Louis, Mo.

She was raised in Crawfordsville. During her 30's she lived in St. Petersburg, Fla., before returning to Iowa to live in Des Moines where she remained until her later years. She became a resident of Lutheran Homes after July of 1998.

She enjoyed taking small trips around the Des Moines area with her husband before his death.
She also enjoyed playing with the family pets, especially her dog, Checkers.

Survivors include a sister, Helen Shenk of Lutheran Homes, Muscatine; a brother, Howard Griffith and his wife,'Bea', of Columbus Junction; a stepdaughter, Janet Stronbehn of Phoenix, Ariz.; a stepson, Robert Allman of Guttenburg; a special niece, Ruth Sturms of Muscatine; and many other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a sister, Josephine Stapp.
