TIPTON - Lowell V. Horn, of West Branch, formerly of Tipton, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, at Crestview Nursing and Rehab Center in West Branch.

Graveside services will be at Tipton Masonic Cemetery. The Rev. Richard Smith will officiate. Visitation will be at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton. Memorials may be made for trees for the benefit of Tipton City Park.

He was born Sept. 23, 1905, in Coon Creek in Cedar County, the son of Mason Bennett and Frances Flint Horn. He married Lucile Christianson on Nov. 10, 1957, in Tipton. He was a farmer, laborer, and tree trimmer. He trimmed all the trees in Tipton City Park. He was educated in Cedar County Schools. He was a member of Tipton United Methodist Church, American Legion and Tipton Senior Dining. He served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include a stepdaughter, Frances Meixner of Cedar Rapids, nieces, Rhonda Driscoll of Wilton and Donna Salyars of Tipton; nephews, Eldon Ford, Herbert Ford, Wayne Ford, Leo Ford, and Doug Ford, all of Tipton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mason and Frances Flint Horn; his wife, Lucile Horn in 1987; a baby brother; sisters, Maxine Ford and Beulah Miller.
