TARKIO, Mo - Richard Wayne Collins, 61, of Tarkio, Mo., died Monday, Dec. 6, at his home. Services were today at the United Methodist Church in Seymour. The Revs. Eric Corley and Jim Culver officiated. Pallbearers were Allen Nelson, Bill Freeman, Dennis Massey, Gerald Massey, Juan Villalobos. Honorary pallbearers were fellow teachers. Mr. Collins was born on July 4, 1938, in Mystic, the son of Edward and Hazel Astroth Collins. He married Nancy Jo Curtis in 1969. They lived in Washington and Muscatine and later divorced. He graduated from Mystic High School and Centerville Junior College. He received his bachelor's and master's from Northeast Missouri State College at Kirksville. He taught in numerous Iowa communities including Mystic, Centerville, Washington and Muscatine. He was a member of the Tarkio United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Church at Seymour. Survivors include a son, Marcus Wayne Collins of Woodstock, Ga.; a daughter, Dawnyelle Lynn Freeman of Tarkio; a brother and sister-in-law, James and Mary Ann Collins of Newton, N. J.; a sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Gerald Massey of Mystic; and three grandchildren, William J. Freeman Jr., Cindi Jo Ann Collins and Lauren Elizabeth Freeman, all of Tarkio. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Donald and Ted; and one sister, Virginia Collins.
