Funeral services for Charles K. (Gus) Shook, 76, will be
held Wednesday at the United Church, of Christ. burial will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery,
Sigourney. The Riley Funeral home is in charge of arrangements and visitation
will be at the funeral home until Wednesday noon when the body will be taken to the church.

Mr. Shook died during his sleep sometime Sunday morning from natural causes at his
home at 511 Orange St.

He was born Sept. 2, 1895 at Exline, Iowa, the son of Rev. Edward J. Fannie B. Thrasher
Shook. He was a former resident of Sigourney and had lived in Muscatine since 1929.

He was a graduate of Iowa Wesleyan college and a veteran of World War 1.
He was a teacher and musician by occupation and taught school in Muscaline for almost
40 years, retiring five years ago from the staff of Muscatine High where he taught
English, Latin and social studies.

He was a well known organist and had played the organ in the high school for many commencement
exercises. He was the organist at the Faith United Church of Chrisl for several
years and before that, the organist at the Baptist church.

Survivors include three brothers, Dr. A. G. Shook, D.O., Corydon, Iowa; H. L.
Shook, Mt,. Pleasant; John F. Shook, Evansville, Ind.; a half-brother, Edward Shook,
Delta, Iowa; a sister, Mrs. Warren L. (Marie) Engle, Peoria; a half-sister, Mrs.
Ralph (Evelyn) Stebbins, Naperville, Ind.; and his stepmother, Mrs. E. J. (Irene)
Shook, Delta, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father andtwo brothers:
