WILTON, Iowa - Jacqueline Ann Hawkins Frederick, 60, went peacefully to be with our Lord on October 14, 2008, after a two-year struggle against cancer.

Graveside service will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Muscatine. The Rev. James Vrba will officiate.

Visitation will be at the Bentley Funeral Home. A memorial has been established in her memory.

Jacqueline was born on November 2, 1947, the daughter of Jack and Orpha Morgan Hawkins.

She was the (big sister), and helped raise her six little sisters, Pamela (George)Freeland, Wanda (Larry) Beard, Wendy (Bill) Helmel, Carla (Ken) Meitl, Carmen (Matt) Fuhrmeister, and Shelly (Paul) Kreimeyer. She was always very proud of all of them, and often said she did a (great job) helping her mom raise them.

On June 13, 1964, she married her first love and her soul-mate, Walter Leroy Land. They were blessed with three children, Deborah Aileen (Dale) Holtz, Stacy Eileen (Duane) Taylor, and Scott Allen Land, with the addition of their four grandchildren, Heather and Austin Taylor, Marcus Schupp, and Briar Land. Her grandchildren were the light of her life.

On March 3, 2003, she married her second love, Gene Frederick, in Westport, Washington. After five brief years together, he passed away on May 24, 2008.

Jacque was blessed with many, many friends; however, two that held a special place in her heart were her sister-in-law, Velma Ferns, and her childhood friend, Denise Foster.

She was a salesclerk at Amy’s Dress Store and a cashier at Bud’s Super Value before she went to work at Thatcher Plastics, where she was employed for 19 years. In her later years she was a cashier at both Econo Foods stores. She never knew a stranger, and was always ready to reach out her hand and her heart to everyone.

She is survived by her children, her grandchildren, her special friend and soul-mate her ex-husband, Walter Land, her sisters and their families, her sisters-and brothers-in law and their families, and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Orpha Fern (Morgan) Maurer; her father, Jack Allen Hawkins, and her husband, Roy Eugene (Gene) Frederick. She will be deeply missed by her family, and her many, many friends.
