Bruner Dies In Hospital After Extended Illness
Thomas P. Bruner, Funeral services for Thomas P. Bruner 38 of 407 West Fifth street, teacher at Muscatine high school, who died at 10:15 p. m. Sunday at Veterans Administration hospital, Iowa City, after an extended illness will be held Thursday at the Ralph J. Wittich Funeral Home. The body will remain at the funeral home pending services where friends may call Tuesday. Mr. Bruner a veteran of service in the Pacific theater during World War 11; was born at Muscatine March 8, 1919, being a son of Clyde L. and Ada Pitchforth Bruner had been a life resident of the community.

He married Betty Essex of Muscatine April 2, 1948 at Nashua, Iowa. Mr. Bruner was a member of Mulford Congregation church, the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. I club of Iowa university. Quarterback club and the Elks. He is survived by his widow and three daughters, Dixie, Mary Ann and Cynthia all at home and his father Clyde Bruner of Wyconda, MO. He was preceded in death by his mother.

"MUSCATINE JOURNAL", Muscatine, Iowa, May 9, 1957------ Funeral Rites--- Thomas P. Bruner---- Funeral services were held today at the Ralph J. Wittich Funeral Home for Thomas P. Bruner, 38, who died Sunday night at the Veterans hospital, Iowa City. The Rev. Alvin Hirsch, pastor of the Mulford Congregational church officiated. Mrs. Floyd Scott was organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. Maynard Vaupel and Mrs. Harry Hindahl. Casket bearers included John Bready, Leonard Roggeveen, Robert Hanson, Walter Kochneff, Archie Martin and John Goudy. Burial was at Greenwood cemetery. Military rites at the graveside were conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, No. 1565. Among survivors of Mr. Bruner is his aunt, Mrs. Blanche Umlandt 418 Grandview avenue by whom he was reared.
