CAROLLTON, Texas - Archie W. Martin, 89, died Sunday, October 19, 2008, at Atria Assisted Living, in Carollton, Texas.

Archie was born May 20, 1919, in Otto, Iowa, the son of Lloyd and Beatrice Moss Martin. He married Rhona M. Fournet on November 22, 1942. She preceded him in death.

He lived in Muscatine from 1946-80. He built his home in Muscatine single handed and taught at Muscatine High School for 34 years. He moved to Thomasville, Georgia, where he lived for 22 years. He golfed every day of his life while living in Georgia on Glen Arven tour course.

He retired from the Army Reserves a lieutenant colonel.

He was much adored by his daughters, who survive him, Diane Oliver of Carrollton, Texas, Gloria Ellis of Portland, Oregon, and Michelle Seaba of Iowa City, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his wife.
