EDNA GREENE

MUSCATINE, IOWA - Edna L. Greene, 88, formerly of 113 E. 4th Street, died Friday, Jan 19, 2001, at Unity Hospital.

Services will be held at 10:30 am Monday at Grace Lutheran Church, 2107 Cedar St. The Rev. Leif Pohl will officiate. Pallbearers will be David Sulzberger, Doug Chalupa, John Sparks, David Duncan, Steve Haller and Brandon Sparks. Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandchildren. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2-6 pm Sunday at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Greene was born Oct. 30, 1912, in Muscatine, the daughter of Francis Edgar and Catherine Ann Riegel Honts. She married Wm. Allen Greene on Sept. 25, 1935 in Kahoka, Mo.

She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church and taught Sunday School for many years.

She was the receptionist for Dr. K.E. Wilcox for more than 30 years, retiring in 1981.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Chalupa, and her husband Phil, of Muscatine; six grandchildren, David Sulzberger, Deborah Sulzberger, Cindy Sparks and her husband, John, Stephanie Duncan ahd her husband, David; Doug Chalupa and Maribeth Hunter; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wm. Allen Greene, in 1944, one daughter, Janet Sulzberger in 1992, two brothers and two sisters.
