MARY HAFNER
LETTS, Iowa -- Mary E. Hafner, 89, of Letts, died Saturday, March 26, 2005, at Lutheran Homes.

Funeral Service will be at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home, 1931 Houser Street. Reverend Kimberly Bowles of the Letts United Methodist Church will officiate. Casket Bearers will be John Martz, Brett Hafner, Bart Hafner, Gary Theobald, Stanley Hafner, and Darrin Martz. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Letts United Methodist Church.

Mary was born on February 1, 1916, in Muscatine County, the daughter of Albert and Jessie Gates Brookhart. She married Clinton L. Hafner on March 6, 1937, in Cranston. He preceded her in death in 1981.

She was a member of Letts United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a former Sunday School Teacher and Church Treasurer.

She loved to quilt, read, work in her flower garden, and she enjoyed her Wednesday Bible Study.

Survivors include two sons, Chet Hafner and wife, Pat, of Letts, Gary Hafner of Letts; one daughter, Janice Martz and husband, Robert, of Muscatine; five grandchildren, Robert Lee Martz, Rhonda Theobald, John Martz, Brett Hafner, and Bart Hafner; nine great grandchildren Derek, Darrin, Emily, Jake, Chad, Chelsea, Marissa, Brady, and Logan; and one great great granddaughter, Krystol.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one grandchild, two great-grandchildren, one brother, and one sister.
