Mary Ellen Brundige Mullen Lett

Died at the residence of her son, Daniel Mullen, at 5 o'clock a.m., on Monday, March 26, 1888, Mrs. Mary E. Lett, in her 77th year. Mrs. Lett, or "Grandma" as she was familiarly known, was born in Nova Scotia, Oct 25, 1811. The early part of her life was spent in Lower Canada. In 1826 she married Mr. Ebenezer B. Mullen, and five children were born to them, four of whom reside in Montgomery county and one in California. In 1838 her husband died and in 1855 she moved to Ogle county, Ill. She was again married in 1866 to Mr. Robert Lett, one of the oldest settlers of La Salle county, Ill. Four years ago he died, and in 1885 she came to Montgomery county and has lived with her son, Daniel Mullen, since that time. Mrs. Lett was a member of the Methodist church, and was always known as a pleasant, kind and Christian lady. She was respected by all, both old and young of our community and all unite in expressing their sympathy for the bereaved family and many relatives. The remains were interred in the Presbyterian church-yard on Tuesday.
