The casualty list published in daily papers early this week included the name of Lieut. Francis L. Mcllvaine, of Indiana. He was reported killed in action. One of the officers detailed for duty with Co. M, is F.A. Mcllvaine, also of Indiana, and Sgt. Owen Hawkins believes that the officer killed was the one who has been with tile company. He was a former regular army first sergeant, about 32 years old, and attended the officer’s training camp at Ft. Snelling. He was a splendid man and a fine officer. His name appears as censor on many of the letters which have been received here from the boys in France.
