MILTON A. WEHRLE DIES AT HOME SATURDAY, JULY 24

Milton Alfred Wehrle, son of John and Elizabeth Schlesselman Wehrle, was born October 14, 1910 in Wellman, and passed away July 24, 1971 at his home in Wellman, at the age of 60.

He graduated from Wellman High School in 1928. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Northern Iowa and his Master’s degree from Drake University.

He was united in marriage to Katherine Hayes on November 27, 1941 at Red Oak, Iowa. To this union were born two sons, Robert Hayes and John Charles.

Milton taught mathematics and band for 18 years. He was Superintendent of Schools at Tiffin for 6 years. He then operated the Wehrle Insurance Company in Wellman for 13 years. He taught school in Keota for 2 years and the past 3 years has taught mathematics in the Washington High School.

He was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church of Wellman. He was a Past Master of Dayton Masonic Lodge No. 149. He was a former choir director and scout leader. His hobbies were hunting and fishing -- all kind of sports.

He was preceded in death by his father. Surviving are his wife, Katherine; 2 sons, Robert who attends the University of Northern Iowa and Charles, a student at Iowa State University; his mother Mrs. Elizabeth Wehrle of Wellman; three brothers, Wayne of Kansas City, Kansas; Leonard of Dallas, Texas; and Robert of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and a sister, Mrs. William Curl (Ruth) of Edinburg, Texas.

Services were from Powell Funeral Home, Wellman, Monday, July 26, 1971, 10:30 o’clock with the Rev. Otto S. Steele officiating. Burial was in the Wellman Cemetery.
