Death of Mrs. Eleanor Speck.

Mrs. Eleanor Speck, a resident of this county for the past 47 years, died from old age at the county home last Saturday, November 16, 1912, at 4 o’clock p.m. The funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon, November 17, in St. Mary’s Catholic church by Rev. Father Quinn, the pallbearers being John O’Rourke, Michael Ellis, Will O’Brien, A. B. Schroeder, Isaac Hulse and William E. Schwartz.

Those who were here from a distance to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Riddlemoser (she is a niece) from Central City, Neb.; John Kendall, a nephew, from Villisca; Mrs. Maggie Gorman, a niece from Clarinda.

Interment was in the South cemetery. Mrs. Speck was born February 20, 1823, in Mansfield, Richland county, Ohio, and was married to Mr. Speck at McCutchenville, Ohio, in 1854. Her husband died ten years after their marriage, one daughter, Miss Rosie, who has been dead for many years, having been born to them. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Marie Nedrey, of Central City, Neb., and one brother, William Wolfe, of Sioux City. Mrs. Speck came to Red Oak in an early day and for many years made her home with her sister, Mrs. Marie Nedrey. She was a member of the Catholic church and a good woman. Many friends mourn her death.
