 Mr. Miller died August 05, 1949

Last rites for Alonzo Miller, resident of this vicinity many years who died early Friday morning at his home after an extended illness, were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Wolfe Funeral Home, conducted by Mrs. Bertha Peters.

The singing was by Cecil Weaver, song selections were "Going Down The Valley" and "Faith of Our Fathers", accompanied by Mrs. Eva Eno, and the pall bearers were Harold Fetters, Louis Enarson, Alfred Havens, Joe Lines, Glen Robe and Willard McIntosh. Interment was beside the wife of the deceased, in Newlon’s Grove Cemetery at Lyman.

Alonzo, the eldest son of John and Malinda Miller, was born at Abington in Jefferson County, Iowa, on Dec. 15, 1858, and was 90 years old at his death.

On Dec. 24, 1883 he was married to Frances Cassill and they went immediately to Nebraska where they lived a few years, coming back to Iowa then where they were engaged in farming near Cumberland and Grant. In 1917 they retired and moved to Villisca where for the last 32 years Mr. Miller lived.

Into their home were born five children, three sons and two daughters. The wife and mother preceded Mr. Miller in death June 3, 1938, as did also two sons, Orvie and Johnnie, and a daughter Fern.

Mr. Miller leaves one daughter, Mrs. Kitty Lee of Bryon, WY and one son, William H. of Villisca, and 8 grandchildren. Three brothers, John, Frank and Alford, and 2 sisters, Laura and Mrs. Emma Logue, preceded him in death and he leaves 3 brothers, Henry of Atlantic, Will of Albion, NE, and Jim of Creston and one sister, Mrs. Ella Graham of Creston.

As long as Mr. Miller's health and hearing permitted he worshiped at the Advent Christian Church.
