Mrs. Sarah E. Emmert, 81, a resident of Montgomery county for 61 years, and of Red Oak for more than 33 years, died at her home, 203 Valley-st., Saturday, March 7, 1936, from hypostatic pneumonia and complications incident to advanced age. She had been ill only a week.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Boileau & Thomas funeral chapel, conducted by Rev. Orville W. Morrow, pastor of the First Methodist church. Pallbearers were Donald Bond, Lawrence Selser, Donald Donohue, Donald Hersman, Darwin Carlisle and Albert Swanson. Interment was in Evergreen cemetery.

Sarah E. Pyle was born at Mt. Carroll, Ill., March 17, 1854, a daughter of T. C. and Margaret Pyle. She came to Montgomery county with her parents in 1875, and was married Dec. 14, of the same year in Red Oak to Daniel Emmert, who died Nov. 17, 1902.

Surviving Mrs. Emmert is one step-son, Frank Emmert, Red Oak; one step-daughter, Nellie Keim, Mt. Carroll, Ill., and five daughters; Mrs. Mary Elliott, Mrs. Mabel Bond and Mrs. Nan Burnett, of Red Oak; Mrs. Grace Lathrop, Rathdrum, Idaho, and Mrs. Beth Pettit, Junction City, Kas. One daughter, Mrs. Edith Selser, preceded her mother in death. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Nan Hysham.

Mrs. Emmert was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist church.
