 Waldo Conner

The funeral of Waldo Conner was held from the late home of Grover street Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, the service being performed by Rev. W.H. Ogle. A large number of friends were present to pay their last tribute of respect to one whom in life was a valued friend and kind neighbor.

He was born in Meggs County, Ohio, April 4, 1837, and died at his home in Perry Iowa, June 10, 1909, age 72 years, 2 months, and 6 days. He immigrated to the state of Iowa in 1844. Mr. Conner was married to Synthia Deacons, March 6, 1884, in St. Joseph, Mo. There was born to this marriage, three boys and two girls. Joseph W. who died in St. Joseph, Mo. There are still living Isaac F., of this city, Chas. A., of Seattle, Wa., Mrs. Jessie May Millard of this city, and Mrs. Gertrude King of Cincinnati, Ohio, all the children living were at the bedside when the father died.

Three sisters are still living, one in Kansas and two in Iowa, Mrs. Milla McCullough was present at the death of her brother. A nephew Joseph Atwood was also present. Mr. Conner and his wife joined the Baptist church in Montgomery Co., Iowa in 1866. Mr. Conner was always a believer in the Christian religion, and during his last sickness he reconsecrated his life to God, his last hours was perfect peace. He repeatedly said: "I am not afraid to die." He left a bright testimony, in evidence of his acceptance with God. He leaves a wife, children and many friends to mourn, their loss is his gain.
