Indianola, Ia. - Hiram Finley, 101, Iowa's oldest Civil War veteran, died in an Indianola nursing home Thursday night.

During the Civil War he carried dispatches on horseback and by rail from the Ozarks to Washington, D.C.

He lived at Stanton most of his life.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. R.E. Harvey, des Moines; Mrs. George Edminston, Wallace, Idaho, and Mrs. Maud Wheeler, Red Oak.

Funeral services will be held at Red Oak Saturday.
