RED OAK - Loretta Margaret Core Laire, 81, of Red Oak died Jan. 6 at the Oakland Manor in Oakland.

She was born Oct. 1, 1922, in Red Willow County, Neb., near McCook to Lorenz R. and Clara (Unger) Baumbach. Loretta was raised near McCook, moving to rural Oakland in 1937.

Then she moved to a farm near Carson. Loretta was united in marriage to Rufus Core on Feb. 27, 1941, in Red Oak.

They established a home on a farm near Oakland. In 1950 they moved to a farm near Villisca, where they lived until Rufus died.

Loretta was then united in marriage to Mervin Laire on Aug. 17, 1968, in Red Oak.

They moved into Red Oak in 1976.

After her health declined, she moved to Oakland Manor in 2001. Loretta attended the First Covenant Church in Red Oak.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Rufus on Feb. 5, 1965, and Mervin on April 24, 1994; a grandson, David Connell; a sister, Luella; and a brother, Marvel.

Survivors include four daughters and their husbands, Judy and Mervin Robison of Omaha, Gloria and Warren Berglund of Red Oak, Jane and Bob Husz, of Council Bluffs and Joan and Henry Samaniego of Tucson, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren: Jeff Robison and wife, Jill, Jill Robison, Keri Kennon, Shay Berglund, Mike Berglund, Michelle Berglund, Loni Keat and husband, Jack, Andrew Samaniego, Frances Samaniego, Jason Connell and wife, Teresa, Ryan Husz and wife, Shanda, and Melanie Husz; eight great-grandchildren: Kaden and Madison Robison, Bryan Berglund, Ryker and Sydney Connell, Michael Husz, Phylip and Dylin Keat; two brothers, Harold Baumbach and wife, Grace, of Villisca, and Lee Baumbach of Elliott; sister, Betty Smith and husband, Gene, of Villisca.

Visitation with the family will be tonight from 7 to 8 at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home in Red Oak.

The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Villisca Cemetery in Villisca.
