The funeral services of Levi Mullen who died at the home of his son, R.G. Mullen, Tuesday morning, after an illiness of several weeks, following a fracture of right limb sustained by falling on the ice at the home of his son, were held at the home of a daughter, Mrs. C.C. Raney, on East Sixth street in Villisca Thursday afternoon at 2:30. The services were conducted by Rev. J.K. Driver, of the Red Oak Presbyterian church and interment was in the Pilot Grove cemetery.

Levi Mullen was born April 15, 1832, in Ontario, near Ottawa, Canada, and lived there until twenty years of age. He was eight-two years, ten months and one day of age at the time of his death. Mr. Mullen went to Illinois in 1852 and in the year 1857 was married to Susanna Allen, at Aurora, Illinois. In 1877 he moved to Iowa with his family and located in Montgomery county where he has remained since. Mr. Mullen was one of the pioneers of this community and was well known by all old residents over the county.
Ten children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Mullen, two of whom died before the family moved to this state and one since. The five sons and daughters who survive are: J.W. Mullen of Villisca, W.S. Mullen of Wallin, C.V. Mullen of Villisca, Frank and Robert Mullen of near Villisca, and Mrs. C.C. Raney of Villisca and Mrs. A.J. Ellis residing north of this city. Mrs. Mullen died September 4, 1909, and is also buried in the Pilot Grove cemetery. One brother, E.B. Mullen, of Red Oak, also survives the deceased. A large circle of friends and relatives attended the funeral services Thursday afternoon.

Levi Mullen died at the home of his son, R.G. Mullen south of Villisca last Tuesday at 12:15 a.m. While Mr. Mullen was an old man his death was hastened by the fall on the ice at the home of his son about the first of January. Being old the broken limb gave him a great deal of trouble and he suffered almost every day until his death.

He went to Illinois in 1852 and in the year 1857 was married to Susana Allen at Aurora, Illinois. In 1877 he moved to Iowa with his family and located in this county near Villisca.
Ten children were born to this union. Two of the children died before the family moved to Iowa and one since. The five boys and two girls who survive are: J.W. Mullen, of Villisca, W.S. Mullen, of Wallin; C.V. Mullen of Villisca; Frank and Robert Mullen of near Villisca; Mrs. C.C. Raney, of Villisca; and Mrs. A.J. Ellis north of Villisca.
Mrs. Mullen preceeded her husband in death - she died September 4, 1909.
One brother, E.B. Mullen of Red Oak survives also.
The funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2:30 from the C.C. Raney home on East Sixth Street, conducted by J.K. Driver of Red Oak, and the burial will be made at the Presbyterian cemetery in Pilot Grove township.
