MISSOURI VALLEY - Gertrude E. Alexander, 82, of Modale died March 9 at Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley.

She was born June 14, 1920, in Harrison County to Albert E. and Jean (Larison) Erixon. She attended and graduated from Mondamin High School. She and her husband owned and operated Alexanders Grocery Store in Modale for many years. She was a member of Modale Methodist Church and a member of Order of Eastern Star for more than 50 years.

Mrs. Alexander and her husband, Joe, were married Nov. 9, 1937, in Red Oak.

Survivors in addition to her husband include daughters, Leone Herman and husband, Jim, of Modale, Ginger Alexander of Modale; sister, Frances Parks, of Onawa; brother, Louis Erixon, of Onawa; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews and many friends.

Visitation with the family will be Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. with an Eastern Star service at 7 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. at Hennessey-Aman Funeral Home in Missouri Valley. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Modale. Burial will be at a later date in Calhoun Cemetery in Missouri Valley.

Memorials may be offered to the United Methodist Church.
