Juanita Mae (Pritchard) Jones was born February 3, 1922 in Hillsboro, Iowa, the daughter of Rev. James B. and Goldia E. (Cox) Pritchard. As a youth she lived in a number of different commuitees due to her father being a minister. Juanita graduated from Melcher High School in 1939. She moved to Williamsburg in 1943 where she worked for Witte’s Department Store, Star Drug and later the Me Too Store. Juanita was united in marriage to Owen R. Jones on August 28, 1950 in Missouri. The couple made their home on a farm southwest of Williamsburg. Juanita helped Owen on the farm while raising their eight children. She was active in 4-H and church. She also worked next to Owen on the Heritage Books that were written. Juanita was a member of the Pleasant Grove Grace Brethren Church rural North English. Juanita died Sunday April 19, 2009 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City at the age of 87 years. Celebration of life service will be 10:30 am Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at the Pleasant Grove Grace Brethren Church rural North English. Pastor Edwin Jordan will officiate. The family will greet friends from 3:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg. Burial will be in the Pilot Grove Cemetery. Memorials are for the Pleasant Grove Grace Brethren Church building fund or Iowa County 4-H Foundation. Juanita is survived by her husband: Owen Jones; 8 children which all live within 8 miles of the family farm: Jane Jones, Don (Sharon) Jones, Richard (Deb) Jones, Roger (Dianne) Jones, Larry (Kris) Jones all of Williamsburg, Kenny Jones of Parnell, Russell (Joan) Jones and Barb (Kevin) Carte all of Williamsburg; 14 grandchildren: Shaun (Brianne) Roberts, Cory Jones, Justin (Amber) Jones, Chad Jones, Amber Roberts (Chad Helmrichs), Andy Jones, Phillip Jones, Kevin(Laurie) Jones, Brandon Carte, Bradley Carte, Emily Jones, Kimberly Jones, Skyler Jones and Amber Rhade and 8 great grandchildren: Michael Castorf, Livia Roberts, Levi Roberts, Avary Helmrichs, Christopher Jones, Curtis Jones, Reese Jones and Salina Jones She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Ruth Pritchard.
