Funeral services for Luverne P. Marcusson, 72, Red Oak, will be Tuesday, Jan. 14, at 10:30 a.m. at Nelson-Boylan Funeral Chapel in Red Oak with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Red Oak Rescue Unit. Mr. Marcusson died Saturday (Jan. 11, 1997) at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak after a brief illness.
He was born Nov. 24, 1924, in Decatur County to Clyde and Goldean (Perkins) Marcusson. He was raised in Red Oak and graduated from Red Oak High School. He entered the United States Army and on Nov. 29, 1945, was united in marriage to Josephine Woods in Colorado Springs, CO. They moved back to Red Oak and he operated Marcusson Trucking until 1977, and for the past 15 years, he has operated Quality Used Furniture in Red Oak. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Past Master of the Red Oak Masonic Lodge and former member of the Za Ga Zig Shrine of Des Moines and past president of the Red Oak Saddle Club.
Survivors include his wife, Jo, of Red Oak; son, Larry Marcusson of Amoret, MO, daughter, Susan Myers of Ankeny; six grandchildren, Scott Peterson, Charity Owens, Aaron Marcusson, James Myers, Justin Myers and Zachary Marcusson; two sisters, Margaret Cozad and her husband, Bill, of Red Oak and Darlene Christensen and her husband, Floyd, of West Branch.
