Front Page "The Villisca Review" 17 January 1919 "OLD SOLDIER DIES" Reese C. James died of pneumonia at his home of his son, R. C. James, ten miles north of Villisca, Wednesday evening at 6:45. He had been sick only about a week. Mr. James, who was an old soldier, had been making his home with his daughter, Mrs Mary Wikoff, of three miles south of Grant, but went to live with his son a short time while his daughter moved to Missouri.
Mr. James was born in Pennsylvania on November 15, 1846, passing away at the age of 73 years and 2 months. He had lived Montgomery and Adams Counties for about 50 years. His wife died while the family was residing east of Elliott 33 years ago. He leaves two sons and three daughter.
At the time the Review went to press It had not been decided when the funeral would be held, but probably not before Saturday. The remains will be buried in the Lowman Cemetery, between Elliott and Grant, beside those of his wife. A daughter is also buried there.
Mr. James was a highly respected old gentleman, and in his death the relatives have the sympathy of many friends.
