VILLISCA REVIEW - April 20, 1899.
The death of Hiram DENNIS took place at Corning, April 14. The remains were brought to Villisca for interment Sunday afternoon, after funeral services at the home. Deceased was a resident of Villisca for several years. He was born in Wayne county, N.Y. in 1820, moved to Penn, when 11 years old. He was married to Mary Ann McKinley. To them three sons and two daughters were born. Moved to Ills. in 1858. In 1874 his wife and one daughter died. In 1876 married Clara Andrews, then moved to Iowa, where he spent the rest of his days. Two of his sons, Henry and Elmer reside in Villisca, another son, Cassius in Kansas, a daughter, Mrs. Augus lives in Chicago. His wife and four children survive him. He was a member of the M. E. church and for a number of years a class leader.
DENNIS, Hiram (1820 NY - 1899 IA) DENNIS -- On Friday, April 14, 1899, at his home in Corning, Iowa. Hiram Dennis, aged 78 years, 10 months and 22 days. Deceased was born in Wayne county, New York. On September 28, 1843 he was married to Mary A. McKinley, and unto them were born five children. In the course of time Mr. Dennis and his family came to Illinois, where his wife and one daughter were accidentally burned to death. Mr. Dennis was married to Miss Claire Andrews in 1876 and they have resided in Corning for the past fifteen years. Funeral services were conducted at the home last Sunday be Rev. Cannon, after which the body was taken to Villisca for interment. (ADAMS CO. FREE PRESS, Corning, IA - Apr 20, 1899)
