Rex McCombs, 87, of Albia died of a heart attack Saturday at Monroe County Hospital there. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Winfield Funeral Home in Albia, with burial at Oakview Cemetery there.
Mr. McCombs was born in Monroe County and had lived in the Albia area most of his life. He was a farmer and had worked at John Morrell in Ottumwa and Chamberlain Manufacturing in Albia before retiring. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Albia and enjoyed spending winters in Donna, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; three daughters, Connie Rivera of Rochelle, Ill., Cheryl Griffin of Albia and Judy Goodvin of Ottumwa; two sons, Richard of Fort Collins, Colo., and Kenneth of Ackworth; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call after 9 a.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the America Diabetes Association or the Monroe County Sports Complex.
