Thursday, May 28, 1908MARGARET J. DINWIDDIE, nee EVANS, was born in New Castle, Del., on Feb. 16, 1836, and departed this life at her home in Newbern, Iowa, at 1:40 a.m., May 13, 1908, at the age of 72 years, 2 months and 28 days.
While yet a child the family moved into the neighborhood of Shelbyville, Ind., and later to Monroe County, Iowa. Here she professed her faith in Christ as her redeemer, in 1855 she united with the M.E. Church in which she remained until she moved to Newbern, when she placed her church membership
in the U.B. Church, Nov. 27, 1856.She was united in marriage with JAMES DINWIDDIE, also of Monroe County, Iowa, and to this union 8 children were born, four boys and four girls, of the latter, one died in infancy and one in young womanhood. The surviving members of the family, are the husband age 83, JOHN W., OLIVER E., MARTHA I. now MRS. A. SARGENT, GEORGE W., ELMER E., MISS KATE C. and six grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, J.W. EVANS, of Mulvane, Kans., and two sisters, MRS. H.E AMOS, of Newton, Ia., and MRS. MARY C. WILLIAMS, of Albia, and a host of friends who were drawn to her by her bright cheerful disposition and all of whom extend their sympathies to the bereaved ones in their hour of sorrow. The cause of her death was hemorrhages of the brain.
Funeral services were held at the U.B. Church and were conducted by E.A. Bennett. The floral offerings were beautiful. A large concourse of people were in attendance both at the church and at Newbern's beautiful cemetery, where the remains were laid to rest.
