James M. Crane Of Soquel Dies

James Mark Crane, 70, a native of Iowa who came to Soquel in 1968, died at his home Friday.

Mr. Crane had been manager of a newspaper in Ord, Nebraska, for 47 years, and came to California in 1966, settling first in San Jose.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Capitola.

He is survived by his wife Inez Crane of Soquel; two sons, James E. Crane of Sunnyvale and Richard D. Crane of Nebraska; a brother, Joseph Crane of Iowa; three sisters, Mrs. Henry Jansen and Mr. Jack Grimes, both of Iowa, and Mrs. Claren Nugent of Wisconsin, and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 9:15 a.m. Monday from White's Chapel, 138 Walnut Ave., to St. Joseph s Church, where a requiem mass will be offered at 9:30 a.m.

Interment will be in Holy Cross cemetery. The rosary will be recited at the mortuary chapel at 7:30 p.m. today.

NOTE: James Mark Crane (1901 - 19972), son of Thomas Joseph (1872 - 1938) and Mary Ellen (McCarty) Crane (1874 - 1949); born June 13, 1901, Wayne Township, Monroe County, Iowa; married Inez Marie (Norton) Crane (1901 - 1985), daughter of Frank Sumner (1875 - 1914) and Orena (Jennison) Norton Harper (1881 - 1950); died February 4, 1972, Soquel, CA.
