Claude L. Harper, former resident of Fairfield, died Monday at 5:15 p.m. at St. Joseph Hospital in Ottumwa after being ill a short time.
Harper recently moved from Rockton, Ill., to Melrose, Iowa.
The service will be at Theulon Funeral Home in Albia at 1 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be at Rockford, Ill., at Sunset Memorial on Friday.
Born May 27, 1927 in Fairfield, Iowa, Harper was the son of Alvin P. Harper and Margaret L. Reid Harper.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Calhoun Harper; a son, James, Sterling, ill., a daughter, Sally Sibley, Sycamore, Ill; and seven grandchildren. Also surviving are four sisters, Bonnie Samuelson, West Liberty; Tina Halsey, Eldora, Iowa; Madge McIntire, Fairfield; Evelyn Shaffer, Fremont, Calif.; and four brothers, Hugo Harper, West Liberty; Rex Harper, Roscoe, Ill.; Gene Harper of Fairfield and Robert Harper, DeKalb, Ill.
